We were planning on going on New Year’s Day, but didn’t make it for one reason or another, but we ended spending the 3rd day of 2009 at Edinburgh Zoo! And it worked out really well, the weather was fantastic (for early January in Edinburgh!). And Hogmanay was great too. Quiet, but really nice. And we got a great view of the fireworks from our living room window. Anyway, I hope everybody else had a good new year.
The new Chimp habitat, the Budongo Trail, is really good – it’s really worth waiting and watching for a while. We watched them running and hooting about.
Anyway, that’s about it for this holiday 😦 😦 😦 On the plus side, it’s been a pretty darn good holiday and there are only five days til the weekend, and we should have Ali K. as a house guest for at least one of those, and he’s always fun to have around. A good incentive to get the flat tidy, and a good excuse to cook some nice food, drink some nice wine (Ali is fast becoming a sommelier*), play some old style AlKandAlC songs (if we can remember them) and try and talk Louisa into joining in on Serge.
Anyway, one evening left… I’m ripping some old cds for the mp3 player (The Police -Reggatta de Blanc, Herbie Hancock – Sunshine (haven’t listened to this in years, 70’s synth jazz disco funk, with lots of cheesey vocoder action!) and Bill Bruford’s Earthworks – The Sound of Surprise). And I think i have a jam with Roger’s band on Thursday, and the Als and the Pussycats will be returning to Banana Row on Saturday morning to work out some new songs.
* yes, I did look up the word on the net. My vocab isn’t really that large.
